Making a paper map

A very merry festive season to you all 🎄🙂💚

Making a plan, so that you leave enough room for your trees and windbreaks, is one of the most foundational and things you can do at the start of your forest garden, and it needn’t be complicated.

Learning CAD is a great if you’ll be doing more than a couple of plans, otherwise good old-fashioned paper is more than sufficient. In this week’s livestream, I’ll go through the key points to remember (scale, aspect and angles) to help you create your very own paper map of your land.

There will be an informal Zoom chat afterwards at 10.30am, all welcome.

Bulbous and pendulous red fruit

Photo gallery of forest garden plants

This is a photo a Chinese Dogwood fruit, amazing isn’t it? There’s slowly more photos being added to forestgardengallery.uk. The idea is to mimic the structure of Martin Crawford’s seminal book Creating a Forest Garden, plus the spreadsheet of all the 400+ species.

If you’d like to help, I have written up instructions, plus I've made a 9 minute YouTube video explaning the research process. Email me [email protected] for details 🙂
