Backyard Forest News — Forest Garden Short Course

Forest Garden Livestream

Wednesday 28th April, 10am BST

Forest Garden Short Course

I’m keen to get the eco-home project residents up-to-speed with forest gardening but my full Backyard Forest course really is too weighty at 3½ hours. So, I’ve promised to make a Short Course, only half an hour long.

It will contain all the key points that are in the full course but without the fluff detail. The essential format of design, structure and cultivate is the same but squeezed into a smaller, more concentrated bottle of time.

As always, there’ll be an informal Zoom chat after the livestream at 10.30am, all welcome.

Garden Wild Spreadsheet

Garden Wild is a project which aims to bring UK native wild flowers and plants into mainstream UK horticulture, by creating a wild flower photo gallery. To my mind, the essence of creating a forest garden is to create an edible ecosystem, and for an ecosystem, you need wildlife. And to grow the native insects that all native wildlife depends upon, you need native plants.

To help myself out in learning the ways of wild flowers, I’ve made the Garden Wild Spreadsheet, listing a bundle of UK natives that we’ll be using in the Garden Wild show beds. There’s 66 species so far and counting.

Patreonise my livestream

I have a Patreon page patreon.com/backyardforest to make it easy for you to support my weekly livestream and YouTube channel.

You can also become a Stellar Coaching Patron, where you get 1-to-1 coaching via Zoom, plus free access to my online forest garden course. This is worth considering if you don’t have the money for a full garden design but would like some customised help in your forest garden progress.
