Perennials vegetables have finally made it to the UK’s most popular gardening TV show. Phew. Next stop, forest gardening I hope.

Jumping on the perennial veg bandwagon, I am livestreaming from our veg patch, showing the new perennial beds and teeny-tiny perennial vegetables!

I’ll also be talking paths, wood chip, bark mulch and, of course, dead hedges. There is always an opportunity to talk about dead hedges.

As ever, there’s an informal Zoom chat after the livestream at 10.30am, all very much welcome.

Mandy Barber’s perennial veg on Gardeners’ World!

Finally, perennial vegetables hit the big time on the UK show Gardeners’ World. Mandy Barber gave Frances Tophill a tour of some of the perennial veg that she sells via Incredible Vegetables in Devon, UK. It was so refreshing to see them being discussed and shown, as they form an integral part of a forest garden. 

Some of the many plants on display were Hopniss, Good King Henry and Sea Kale. For more details and links of other perenial veg, check out my Forest Garden Spreadsheet.

Garden Wild Spreadsheet

The Garden Wild Flower Gallery project aims to promote the use of UK native wild flowers in horticulture by showcasing gorgeous photographs of different combinations.

However, the project is a bit on the backburner, as we’re waiting for news about our funding application. We won’t find out until July 😳. So, in the meantime, I am adding flowers to the Garden Wild Spreadsheet, plants that can look good in an ornamental garden and provide for our native wildlife. Use the spreadsheet to help get you started on the wild flower thing!
